After my experience as a Pre-K teacher ignited my passion for education, I procured my Masters in Early Childhood and Elementary education. In 2006, I began teaching 2nd grade. Since then I have taught both first and second, looping with my students until I became the second grade team lead. With the help of many incredible colleagues, I obtained my National Board Teaching Certificate in 2012. I am indebted to the wonderful educators who invest not only in the students but also in each other. These people truly make school a home away from home. Thanks!
The more I taught, the more I understood how valuable it was to be a coach and a guide to my students. We all learn best when we are the one most invested in the learning process. My goal as a teacher is to build a system in which students desire to learn and grow. This begins with students seeing their own value in the educational system and cultivating their desire to be successful. My classroom creations center around tasks in which students are reading, writing or manipulating to learn or projects in which students synthesize subjects to apply their knowledge. Couple this with peer accountability in which fellow students edify, evaluate and spur each other on to greater achievements and you have a classroom ripe for learning.

My husband and I are currently at the beginning of our adoption journey. We want to open our household to love and nurture a child who would not otherwise have the opportunity to even understand the concept of "home." Yet the estimated cost of adoption, over $40,000, is daunting, especially on a teacher's salary. We are hoping TpT not only gives back to the community of educators by providing excellent resources but also can help bring our baby home. All money earned goes directly to our adoption fund.
