TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching in my current district for 7 years now; five of those being in 1st grade, one year spent in Kindergarten and this will be my 2nd year in 2nd grade. Before that, I taught for 2 years in a Montessori school with a Kindergarten and 1st grade combination classroom. Right out of college I spent 3 years substitute teaching in every grade from Kindergarten to 8th.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love to let the students discover their learning cooperatively in a structured and safe environment.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

During my first year teaching in my current district, I applied for and won a technology grant that gave me hours of training and thousands of dollars worth of equipment for my classroom. During the 2011-2012 school year, my principal honored me with our districts "Teacher of the Month" award. A few years back one of my students broke the district's 10 year long standing AR record for most tests passed in a school year!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Elementary Education Major, Early Childhood Minor, MAEd in Elementary, ELL Endorsement, Professional Certificate

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My husband and I love to do projects around our home and spend time with our dogs, cats, chickens, and goats. I am lucky to have my summers "off" and the time to work in our garden, catch up on school projects and relax.
