Foreign Language learning was always a priority in my family. I was born in Puerto Rico, but I also went to school in the States and in Germany. I grew up speaking English, Spanish, and German. I taught Spanish and English in Germany for a while, but began formally teaching high school and college in 1980. I first taught only German, but later also taught Spanish. I really enjoyed teaching both high school and college classes. I also enjoyed creating fun activities and worksheets that would help the students absorb and use the language correctly. I would like to share those worksheets with other teachers for I know how much work is involved teaching students and attending meetings. I hope you and your students enjoy and benefit from the activities and grammar review worksheets that I post online.
I used a variety of teaching styles and methods. I tried to incorporated as many styles as possible in the classroom to accommodate the different students and their needs. I really emphasized a lot of oral activities and practice. I also used a lot of cooperative activities and some TPR.
I have received some honorable awards in college and high school.
I spent my last year in high school in Bremen,Germany. I also took a couple of courses at the Volkshochschule in Bremen, Germany. I graduated form the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico with a B.A. in Humanities. I received my M.A. in German Literature from Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri. After graduating from Washington University I started teaching German in high school during the day, and I also at the Community College in the evenings. I taught high school for 25 years and college 17 years. I am still teaching college part time.
I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I lived there a few years, but did all of my grade school on the West Coast, in Washington, Oregon, and California. I attended high school in Puerto Rico before going to Germany. My mother is Spanish and my father is German. I have family in different countries. We traveled a lot. My mother was a teacher and both parents spoke several languages. At home we were not allowed to speak English. Foreign language learning was always a priority at home. I am trilingual and can understand a bit of other romance languages.
