Geri is an early childhood educator and has enjoyed looping between first- and second grades. She has led school- and district-based professional development and curriculum writing and presented at SCIRA and Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence conferences. In addition, she is a published co-author of a children's book, "Chase Gets a Penpal." Most importantly, she is a lifelong learner.

Geri was awarded the Reading Teacher of the Year, 2011-12 for Irmo Elementary, School District 5 of Lexington/Richland Counties and for the Columbia, SC chapter of South Carolina International Reading Association. In addition, she has received Bright Ideas and Donor's Choose grants.

Geri and her husband, Bill, have 3 grown children and one grandchild . They have lived in both Canada and the U.S., enjoying many happy adventures along the way. Geri's parents were born and raised in Ireland and instilled a great love of learning and wondering. In addition to teaching, Geri loves date nights with her husband, reading and singing with her baby grandson, beach visits, and writing children's books.
