TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Position: Adjunct Visiting Professor 2009 to present • Responsible for the instruction of online courses in the Special Education Program including best teaching practices (structure, communication and assessment), and research based learning. • Program goals aimed at helping teachers become better equipped to teach and care for students with special needs. • Serve as mentor to online faculty. • Work in Blackboard 9 and Collaborate. • Work collaboratively to develop online courses. • Work in Syllabi in order to implement PDE and ELL standards for NCATE accreditation. Position: Director, Reading Specialist Program 2006 to 2008 • Monitored the work of nine supervisions who oversaw eight clinicians training to become reading specialists. • Ensured supervisors were reflective, critical and analytical as it pertained to the instruction and overall literacy development of struggling readers. • Managed a projected budget. • Ran staff developments in order to enhance teacher awareness of reading best practices, struggling readers, behavioral issues, and classroom management techniques. • Worked with payroll, human resources, and pupil services. • Spoke directly with parents in order to ensure home/school had a healthy relationship in order to best benefit the child. Position: Assistant Director, Partnership 2005 to 2007 • Worked as liaison between the University and the principals of two Philadelphia schools to enhance behavior management within the schools, raise test scores, and facilitate instruction. • Served as mentor to the principals of the schools providing professional advice; visited individual classrooms providing hands-on training when necessary. • Provided daily assistance for teachers in order to help with behavioral management/instruction of students. • Worked with University registrar to ensure the partnership was in line with University application standards. • Provided weekly logs to all partnership directors. • Monitored a projected budget. • Assisted with grant writing. Position: Assistant Director, Reading Specialist Program 2000 to 2005 • Assisted the director in a reading practicum experience aimed at certifying teachers to become Reading Specialists. • Responsible for the organization, planning, and coordination of the program which entailed programmatic paperwork for all of the clinicians and supervisors, the placing of clinicians with supervisors, the placing of students with their participating teachers, and the coordination of meetings.
