I am a fifth grade teacher in Charlotte, NC. I love love love teaching fifth grade! It was my fifth grade teacher who inspired me to become a teacher. I've taught fourth, fifth, and sixth grade in Massachusetts, Nevada, and North Carolina. I have experience as a classroom teacher, long-term sub, enrichment teacher, and intervention teacher. I love creating curriculum materials that excite students! My materials are based on what I find my students need, so you know they are authentic classroom tasks.
I believe in a student-centered classroom. I utilize centers and stations in my ELA and math instruction. My students have up to 6 centers in each subject area per week. We are huge fans of interactive notebooks and project-based learning! Whenever possible, I choose constructivist teaching over teacher-directed teaching. My goal is to teach students to be independent learners and thinkers.
Yet to be added
As an undergraduate, I studied psychology and education at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. I earned my masters degree in elementary education from Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA in 2013.
Outside of teaching, lesson planning, and learning, my life revolves around my wonderful family (dogs included) and friends. I'm a true New England skier and I love a good cup of coffee :). Let's Connect! Find my teaching blog here. Facebook/Instagram: @reportingfromroom403
