TEACHING EXPERIENCE

For the past 19 years I have worked in a small urban school district with a diverse population of students from a wide variety of socio economic backgrounds. In that time I have worked as a Special Education Teacher and a Fourth Grade Classroom Teacher. Most recently, I have been a Social Studies teacher for students in grades 7 and 8. In 7th grade I teach Ancient Civilizations and 8th I teach US History I. I have conducted teacher workshops in a variety of Social Studies themes for local teachers. I am a member of the NCSS and have sat as a member of the Carter G. Woodson Book Award Committee for 3 years.

I believe in creating a challenging and engaging classroom for my students that is rich with analyzing primary sources, writing and technology.
