TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have always wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. I began working with children as a Sunday School Teacher throughout middle school and high school. Throughout college, I worked at a local day camp in the summers. My first year teaching I worked at a Missouri School for the Severally Disabled; teaching students daily living and functional skills. The past five years I have worked as a Resource Room Teacher in a K-5 elementary school. I serviced students with a wide range of abilities and needs; learning disabilities, behavior and executive functioning. This year I will begin teaching 7th grade Class within a Class and Specialized Instruction classes. I look forward to the new learning experiences.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I prefer to use hands on approaches and try to show students real life experiences to help them see the relevance of what they are learning.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been given the honor of being chosen to work on our district's English Language Arts Cadre.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended Northwest Missouri State University where I majored in Elementary Education (1-6) and Cross Categorical Special Education (K-12). I also later obtained my Masters in Literacy Education and added Reading Specialist to my certification.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I strive to be organized and creative. I hope the lessons and documents I offer can help you in your ventures to provide your classroom with creativity and organization.
