My husband and I moved to Baldwin County in July of 2012, and I retired June 1, 2017 after my third year teaching sixth grade Reading at Robertsdale Elementary. However, before moving to Robertsdale Elementary, I taught 2 years at Orange Beach Elementary and 20 years in the Covington County School System. The saying, "Time flies when you're having fun" must certainly be true as it is difficult to believe I am in my 25th year as an elementary educator. My husband & I are members of the First Baptist Church in Foley, and we enjoy traveling in our free time. I have two children, a son-in-law, & a "grandpuppy". My daughter is a civil engineer for a power company here in Alabama, & she and my son-in-law are very active in their church and mission work. My son recently graduated college & is employed as an account representative for an electronic component distributor in Texas. The first time I ever saw the TV commercial stating Troy University’s motto, “Educate the mind to think, the heart to feel, the body to act”, I realized that is the exact motto I strive to live by as an educator. I want to make a difference in the world by educating children, but for me, it goes much deeper than that. I want students to understand that I care about them as individuals, and I want to have a positive impact on each one of them as a whole individual and not just in the area of academics. I try to impress upon my students the value of hard work, responsibility for their actions, respect for others, and the importance of being good citizens. I work with diligence to help make each child I teach a better person. I believe that each child is a special and unique individual, and I take a personal interest in each child. As a teacher I want to make a difference in the world by enabling each of my students to exhaust the possibilities of his or her talents, imagination, skills and character.
