I have been a teacher for 18 years, the last 12 at a Title I school in Texas. I love teaching elementary music! In addition to my school duties, I am a lead teacher for my school district, region chair for Texas Music Educators Association, and a co-chair of the Music and Technology Conference of Houston. I frequently present sessions at conferences and for school districts on technology integration.
My classroom is full of fun and magic! I am all about happy kids making music. I am inspired by many pedagogical practices in my teaching! I am passionate about appropriate technology use in the music room. Behavior management and working with special populations is also a specialty of mine.
While I have been honored as Teacher of the Year for my campus and school district, the moments that stand out most for me are those when I have been able to guide students to meaningful musical moments! I also value working with teachers and helping them find best practices for their classrooms.
My undergraduate degree is in music education from Texas Christian University. I earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching with Internet Technologies from Marlboro College in Brattleboro, VT where I won the President's Prize for academic excellence.
Other than teaching music, I love spending time with my husband, son, and our silly dogs. Reading and singing in the community chorus are my favorite hobbies.
