I have been teaching in some form or another for the last 24 years! 4 years of preschool followed by 20 years of 1-4th. My most recent years have been spent in 1st and 2nd, which I adore! I am currently working in an RtI (Response to Instruction/Intervention) position working with 2 elementary schools, grades K-6. I am looking forward to this new adventure. Wish me luck!
I have a creative heart and a linear brain! I think that makes a pretty good combination. I like to provide enough structure to make my classroom sane... and enough creativity to make it thrive. I am bringing my teaching into the 21st century with lessons rooted in Common Core Standards and rich with SMART Board and IPad technology.
I have trained as BTSA Mentor, Master/Mentor Teacher, DIBELS Next School Site Coordinator/Trainer, GLAD Certified in Primary and Upper Grade, GLAD Mentor Teacher 2011-2014, Certified in AB466 Math, PAL Trained, and SMART Board Trained Level I Courses 1-5.
I attended K-12 in Saddleback Valley School District in Southern California, followed by a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts at Cal State Fullerton. Go Trojans! I completed my credential at Concordia University in Irvine and my masters in Reading Specialization at National University.
I am a newlywed! I married my sweetheart in March of 2013 in Laguna Beach, California. My husband coaches and teaches documentary and movie production at the Orange County School of the Arts. We live in the art district in downtown Santa Ana with our boxer, Rigby Marie and our tabby cat, Juliette. Life is sweet!
