We believe that kindergarten, as the beginning of a child’s school experience, should be engaging, active, social and fun! We see that young children learn best when provided with lessons that are integrated, interactive, and meaningful. We want to be respectful of kindergarten student needs and try to provide hands on or concrete ways of learning. To help accommodate for individual student differences, we use open-ended activities that allow for a variety of ways to be completed. This open-ended style also allows teachers to easily modify these lessons for different classes and different styles of teaching. We balance our instruction between teacher directed and discovery learning to help teach necessary foundational knowledge and to help teach children how to learn. Both skill sets are necessary to start children along on their school journey. We believe that incorporating the arts into teaching (visual art, dance, music, and drama) can greatly enhance learning.
