I have taught for 15 years in Wisconsin, teaching both 1st and 3rd grade. Before I had my own children, I also tutored many elementary students during the summers.
I would say that I am a teacher who is both a Personal Model and a Facilitator. That combination of styles has proven to be the most successful for me to be able to reach all types of learners in my classroom. I also use "logical consequences" with my students- as well as with my own children!
My desk and personal area are filled with pictures and notes from my students over the past 15 years. Some still write me letters from middle school and high school, and even come back to "shadow" me for future careers! To me, that is the biggest honor I could ask for.
I graduated from high school in Kansas, and received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Kansas State University. (Go Wildcats!)
I married my college sweetheart in 1999, just two days before the new millenium! We have two children- a boy and a girl. Besides teaching, I love to plan my kids' birthday parties. You can visit http://craftyparty.webs.com/ to see my party site. I am also addicted to Pinterest, and have pinboards for every subject I teach as well as the holidays, seasons, kids stuff, good ideas, bad ideas, recipes, my home, and humor. http://pinterest.com/3teachermama2/ We all need a hobby... :)
