TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Before becoming a teacher, I was a substitute teacher as I attended my undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Geneseo. I have been a high school English teacher in New York State for 10 years. I spent 5 years as an instructional coach. I am now back in the classroom. I have been teaching for a total of 17 years. My undergraduate work consisted of Secondary Education with Concentration in English and History from SUNY Geneseo. My master's degree concentrated on integrating technology into the curriculum from the University of Phoenix Online. Many of my lessons integrate the use of technology in some way. I have been a teacher author for Teachers Pay Teachers since March of 2007.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I rarely lecture. I like to provide opportunities for students to learn and grow with my guidance rather than telling them the answers. I enjoy incorporating History and English together to give students a context in which to learn from and internalize. Inquiry based instruction is at the heart of what I do.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I also teach courses to my peers for professional development in helping them to integrate technology in the classroom as well as other instructional strategies.
