TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I teach art to grades 3-8 as well as ESL to adults. I have been teaching for the past 7 years, working with a wide range of students including gifted and talented, and special needs students who have been mainstreemed into my classes. I started my career in outreach education.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that students need creativity in the formative years and that the integration of the arts is crucial. I use a firm yet nuturing teaching style to encourage my students to feel safe, structured, but free to be creative and to make their own choices (and mistakes) when appropriate. Each year of a child's life is as important as the next and the right (creative) brain should be utilized from the start.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Most of my products and lessons contain an element of artwork done by hand. Although many people are now using computer generated images, I prefer to draw images by hand if possible. As time passes and I have posted more lessons and products, I hope to share the idea of multi-culturalism and tolerance in many of my lessons.
