After spending my childhood dancing, scrap booking, playing instruments, and soaking up the classic rock my dad grew up on, I attending Kansas State University for 5 years. There I played in the marching band, the top wind ensemble, and majored in Music Education. I spent one summer traveling the United States with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle corps where I marched tuba. I have taught K-5 General Music in Kansas for 4 years at a Title One School, and coordinated the YMCA After School Program.
My teaching style is very fluid and flexible. I like to make the focus of everything I do to be to enhance a child's love for music, so we tend to go where the lessons take us musically. I grew up dancing so movement is an important part of every lesson I do, as children are natural born movers. Project based learning is a favorite way to teach a vast array of content in a student led environment, each class does one large project each semester.
