TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Pre K, Kindergarten, 1st reading recovery, 4th. ESL, GT

MY TEACHING STYLE

Whole brain approach. I am dyslexic and a lot of the stratagies I use to learn works very well with primary grades, especially E.L.Ls and LD kids. I also believe in a lot of whole group lessons. Small groups are definitely important, but primary students need the conversation that leads to vocabulary. I believe in rigor. I believe that students are capable of much more than we are required to give them.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Teacher of the month October 2015 Lead teacher 3 years running. Mentor teacher to a teacher in an alternative certification program.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am diagnoised dyslexic, ADHD and GT. These opposing 'special populations' made school difficult for me. I had to learn many stratagies to be sucessful. I believe this has made me a great teacher. I can teach any type of brain :)!
