I've been involved in performing arts education since I graduated in 1982. Over my 30+ years in teaching I've worked in primary, secondary and special education, as well as adult education, community/youth work, 1-1 English teaching and youth theatre. Between 2003 and 2009 I worked with excluded teenagers in the UK and used my arts work to help them with basic skills and social interaction. Since 2011 I've been working as a substitute teacher in an international school in Amsterdam, and I also run a creative writing after school club. Being a sub teacher has given me time to pursue my own creative writing.
My passion is for performing arts education. I initially trained to teach Music and Drama and I think arts subjects have enormous value for students of all ages. I prefer to guide students through a creative process in which they can make their own decisions and take ownership of their work. I believe this empowers them and builds confidence which they can use in their daily lives.

My personal passion is writing. I write fiction in prose and script form, and I have self-published 3 books; a set of short stories 'The Wishing Sisters' (2008), 'Footprints in the Snow' (2011), a novella for children aged 8-11, and 'The Knocking' (2017), a supernatural novella about the Great Flood which occurred in the South West of England in 1607. I'm currently working on a YA novel and a second set of short stories. I also love travelling, which helps me to write. My husband and I have a motorbike and have explored various parts of Europe.
