Most children love stories with a fantasy element. They love to read them, watch them on screen and - in my experience - they also love to write them. In this resource there are four images of things I've photographed when I've been out and about.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been involved in performing arts education since I graduated in 1982. Over my 30+ years in teaching I've worked in primary, secondary and special education, adult education, community/youth work, 1-1 English teaching and youth theatre. Between 2003 and 2009 I worked with excluded teenagers in the UK and used my arts work to help them with basic skills and social interaction. Since 2011 I've been working as a substitute teacher in an international school in Amsterdam, and I also run a creative writing after school club. Being a sub teacher has given me time to pursue my own creative writing.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My passion is for performing arts education. I initially trained to teach Music and Drama and I think arts subjects have enormous value for students of all ages. I prefer to guide students through a creative process in which they can make their own decisions and take ownership of their work. I believe this empowers them and builds confidence which they can use in their daily lives.
