TEACHING EXPERIENCE

14 Years as a 7th Grade Science Teacher and now this year-- 2017-2018, I am teaching 8th Grade Science.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I recently came across the statement “Schools exist for the students and not for the teachers”. This is a statement I very much agree with and which I consider the foundation for my role in the classroom. It is my duty to create a relevant and interesting Science Class. The students should not have to wonder why they have to learn about Punnett Squares, the nucleus of a cell, adaptations of organisms, or bacteria. It is my task to show them the relevance of everything they learn. It is also my duty to make the lessons engaging by building my lessons around scientific concepts that students can relate to; I am not teaching science, but I am teaching students science.
