I am currently in my sixth year of teaching First Grade at a Title I school in Clarksville, Tennessee!
I have a genuine passion for working with children, and a natural inclination to help promote their social and cognitive development. I strive to create a welcoming and relaxed classroom environment, lending students a sense of safety and security that is conducive to learning. I also feel that it is absolutely crucial to establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with all students. As an educator, I aim to design and implement lessons that cater to the various needs, abilities, learning styles, and interests of my students. The process of differentiating instruction ensures that each student is receiving instruction within their individual zone of proximal development, challenging them academically without causing unnecessary frustration.
I received the 2018-2019 Distinguished Educator Award for my school.
I graduated from Michigan State University in 2013, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development. I earned a teachable major in Language Arts, and secured an Early Childhood General and Special Education (ZS) Endorsement. While working to earn my degree, I was placed in a number of Early Childhood Education (Pre-K) settings (varying ages), as well as one Kindergarten classroom. After receiving my degree, I completed a yearlong teaching internship. Upon completion of the internship, I received my Elementary Education Teacher Certification through MSU. In the coming years, I hope to earn a Master of Education degree.
