TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught middle school for four years and continue to improve my practice through participating in conferences in New York State and Arizona. I am working on my National Board Certification.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My greatest strengths are in relevancy, making connections among texts and between text and the students' world. I pride myself on well-made materials that are engaging and present unique perspectives on the world. I strive to teach social justice and compassion as much as I teach writing and reading skills.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated valedictorian of 800 students from a suburban melting pot on Long Island, NY. I then earned a dual bachelor's degree in English and Secondary Education from the State University of New York College at Oneonta (SUCO). I plan to earn my National Board certification and then work for a masters in creative writing or literature.
