I have 19 years of classroom experience in the secondary public school system. I have also taught as an adjunct at the college level. My main teaching disciplines are Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science. I received my School Counseling Certificate for grades k-12 in 2008 and have served as a School Counselor ever since.
I believe the more senses a student engages when being taught a concept, the better he/she will learn. Teaching the life and physical sciences provided me the ample opportunity to incorporate hands on laboratory experiments to help facilitate learning. I try to accommodate the various learning styles my students possess by using multiple methods of delivery when teaching a particular subject.
During my fourth year to teach, I was awarded the Polaris Teacher of the Year Award at Okemah High School in Okemah, Oklahoma.
In 1993, I received as Bachelors of Science Degree in Occupational Safety and Health with a double minor in Biology and Chemistry at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma. In 1995, I received a teaching certificate from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. In 2008, I received a Masters of Education Degree with a specialty in School Counseling graded k-12.
I have been married going on 19 years with five children and expecting our sixth. Although I teach/counsel in the public sector, my wife and I homeschool our own children. I have done extensive research in the changing of family dynamic and the effects of absent fathers on the development of their children.
