I have been in the education field since 2007. I served 2 years as a paraprofessional and have been teaching in a self-contained public special education school since 2009. I specialize in students with communication and behavior difficulties who need maximum support to learn (typically with ASD). I work closely with BCBA's to support my students by using the principals of ABA. I have experience with implementing various curriculums such as ABLLS-R, VB-MAPP, PEAK, and STAR. I currently have a Primary/Elementary age classroom.
I belive in a highly structured classroom. I use the strategies of ABA and my team and I do a lot of DTT teaching with our students. In addition we practice Natural Environment Teaching and working on increasing appropriate behavior, communication, academic, and life skills.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education form Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). I also have a Master's degree in Collaborative Education K-6 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
I was born and raised in Middle TN and then met my husband who was an Alabama boy. We married in 2007 and have 2 children who keep us busy with dance, sports, and a love for all things outdoors! Contact me at: email@example.com
