I am a 28 year veteran in elementary education with experience as a music director, elementary K - 6 teacher, Technology Coordinator, and Elementary School Principal. I have also designed and presented numerous professional development workshops in elementary education as well written technology handbooks, safety plans, school improvement plans and Response to Intervention procedures. I recently retired and now have to the time to follow my passion in writing curriculum.
I tend to use a hands on approach of teaching. I want the children to "do" something with the information they are learning not just read the book, answer comprehension questions and take a test. Project based learning is so much more fun but unfortunately, in today's classrooms teachers simply do not have the time to create these projects. That's where I come in! I integrate as many academic areas as possible in my curriculum projects to make it a truly cross-curricular project.
