I've been teaching for many, many years...too many to count! I've taught every grade from K-8 and I have worked in schools in Maine, Maryland, Montana and West Virginia. I have been a Title I Director, a Special Ed Director, a Reading First Mentor. a Technology Integration Specialist and a principal in an alternative high school. My favorite grade level was grade 6 but as long as I was working with kids, I was happy!
I'm retired now after many years of working in schools all over the place. I enjoyed the rural one-room schools of Montana, the small K-8 school in snow country in Maine, my first school on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and my last school in the high land of West Virginia! I have taught every grade level from K-8 and have been an administrator in a county office and a principal for an alternative school. My life has been a wonderful ride of changes, of teaching and of learning! And that never stops! I loved to teach using projects but I was also comfortable with direct instruction via modeling. I loved using technology in the classroom with computers, interactive whiteboards, mobis and document cameras! Many of my products reflect how I liked to teach. I would have my lessons and then I would support them with learning centers or activities that reinforced the targeted skill. I always used cute and it didn't matter the grade level. Writing was always an important part of the daily experience. I used my travel photographs to support writing lessons.
