I am in my 11th year of teaching in public schools. I've taught in a school where 90% of our students were on free or reduced lunches and am currently teaching in a school that is ranked as one of the hundred best high schools in the nation by Newsweek. I've taught A.P. Literature, Drama, Computer Apps, Newspaper Production, and English in grades 8 - 12.
I lean more toward guiding students to discovering truths than toward telling them the right answer. I value critical thinking over fact regurgitation.
I am a National Board Certified Teacher (in AYA English Language Arts) and hold a Masters of Education in secondary education.
I received my B.A. in English with a minor in Performance Studies in 1998. After a few years of various jobs in assorted industries, I realized how much I missed school, so I tried substitute teaching. I feel in love with the classroom and returned to school to get a M.Ed. in Secondary Education.
In my spare time, as if English teachers have spare time, I help my wonderful husband raise our two adventuresome children.
