Taught a variety of high school sciences for seven years in low income schools of South Texas and Chicago.
My style typically follows a standard lesson format of introduction to new material, guided practice, and independent practice. I also included lots of hands-on and kinesthetic activities and labs to teach to a variety of learning styles and provide multiple opportunities for students to master material. Additionally, I taught in high schools specifically targeting mastery of CCRS as students worked towards the ACT.
Served as science department chair in two high schools of Chicago. Achieved second highest ACT growth for 9th grade students in a public charter school system in Chicago. Named teacher of the year at high school in Chicago.
