Currently Student Teaching at an International School in Buffalo, New York. I teach students from all over the world in a Newcomer program. This gives me very indispensable experience with English Language Learners. I have also lived in Japan for about a year. I understand how it feels to be in a country that does not speak your native language. This gives me the ability to relate to my students even more.
I love student engagement. As an English Language teacher, communication is key in the classroom. Instruction is important, but I try to include some teacher lead instruction and student group work. Pairing students who speak the same language aids in understanding for ELLs.
