I have been an Art Teacher for over 20 years, working for both schools and cultural institutions/museums. My students range from Pre school age to adults.
As an Art Teacher, you need to instill confidence in your students, before you get started. At schools, I begin each class by saying, "You don't need talent to succeed; interest and effort make for great results". I then introduce the class to the chosen artist, discussing the artist's life and times and show them work's examples. My accompaning activity (tailored to grade level/class ability) proceeds with a showing of the activity and a step by step proceedure of the activity. I am patient and encouraging; I give out quarterly awards, not only for the best work, but also for the most improved, the best listener and the most improved behavior. ALL class work is displayed.
At school, I received the "Judith Summerville Award" for academic excellence.

My interest in Art began in at an early age; I grew up exposed to the arts and my artistic talent was always encouraged. Sadly, most schools don't include Art in their offerings and some students grow up without any cultural experiences at home. My mission is to leave every student I work with, (whether at a school or a class trip or special program) with an enriching experience. The talent I most proud of, is the ability to interpret an artist or theme or exhibit, and develop a lesson appropriate to my students .
