I have been teaching for 30 years. I can't thinking of a better, more rewarding profession except for being a mom. I have taught grades 1 through 12 with the most experience being in grades 3 through 6. I am currently an elementary science coach serving three schools in my district.
While in the classroom, my mission for the class was...To provide a safe learning experience that encourages children to explore the world around them and to continue their intellectual and academic growth. I want to challenge and nurture each student in such a way that they are willing to work hard and then enjoy the fruits of their labor. The only difference is now...I want to encourage and support teachers as they teach science in ever-changing times.
The best awards and honors come from the smiles and cards that children make for you, when they let you know you matter to them. I was selected as the Hurlburt Air Force Association Chapter 398 teacher of the year in 2010. It was a huge honor for me, because I am mostly that teacher who quietly works away and doesn't look for attention.
Graduate from Auburn University back in the days of Home Economics. My degree was in home economics, but I changed over to elementary along the way. I love both and wouldn't change a thing.
