Hello! My name is Sara Ahnell and I am in my third year teaching French I, II, and Pre-AP English 10 in a public high school in Alabama. I am also a part-time instructor at Auburn University and teach a course in classroom management for foreign language teachers.
I have been trained in and practice Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and the Natural Approach by Dr. Sue Barry of Auburn University. I speak in the target language in my classroom over 90% of the time through carefully structured classroom routines, lessons and unit plans. I incorporate a wide range of methods and techniques such as the Direct method, Total Physical Response (TPR and TPRS), and use authentic texts and realia from the target culture to teach reading, writing, and culture.

I have a Masters degree in Foreign Language Education with a specialty in French from Auburn University, and I am a certified, highly qualified teacher in the state of Alabama for both secondary French and English. I also have my Bachelors degree in French from Auburn University.
I enjoy spending my free time with my husband and our two kitties. I love teaching, playing my violin, playing tennis, traveling, and reading.
