I have taught in a public high school for seven years before becoming a stay at home mom. I have taught 10th grade regular English, 10th grade Co-Taught English, 10th Grade Honors English, 11th Grade Honors English, and Creative Writing, which I am passionate about. I consistently had the highest core testing scores in my department. I have been part of the Jeff Wilhelm Reading Cohort through BYU. I also have taken extra courses of creative writing through Children's Institute of Literature on writing and novel writing.
My style is a mix between traditional and current. I lean traditional for subjects like vocabulary and grammar, and current for discussions, Socratic Seminars, and writing styles. I love teaching, and I love designing curriculum. My approach is not lesson plan step-by-step. Rather, I prefer to provide what I call supplements--assignments and activities that are meant to be used at your discretion discretion, where it will fit best into your already formed (and fabulous) units. I don't want to tell you how to teach my assignments, rather I want to tell you how I teach the assignments to encourage you to make it your own and to make it work in your classroom.
