I have taught grades 6-12 and thoroughly enjoy the challenge of teaching teenagers and pre-teens. My favorite subjects to teach so far are AP U.S. History and AP U.S. Government. My lesson plans push for higher level thinking in all students.
I believe strongly in keeping students involved and engaged throughout the entire lesson. The goal in all of my lesson plans is to ensure active learning. I aim for students to be able to analyze history and think critically about past and current issues, and in order to achieve this I incorporate a mix of lecture, reading, writing, discussion, and research into my lesson plans and units.

I have a B.A. in History, with a minor in secondary education, from the University of North Texas. I graduated debt-free and with a 4.0 overall GPA after paying for college myself through working and scholarships. I have presented two papers in history conferences: “The Paradox of Athenian Democracy: Freedom on the Backs of Slaves,†and “The Problem with Accommodation: 20th Century Black Views on Civil Rights Before King.â€
I am originally from Ft. Worth, Texas, but just moved with my husband, Jesse, to San Antonio, Texas with our White German Shepherd mix puppy, Chewie. I have been involved with teaching since I was in middle school, and I absolutely love it! Being able to combine my love for history with my love for teaching young minds as a Social Studies teacher has been a dream come true. Let me know if you are interested in any specially designed units or lesson plans for your Social Studies classroom, and I would be happy to make one for you!
