TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught Choral/General Music at every grade level, from PreK-12th Grade. I began as a part-time Music teacher at a private school while I was still working on my undergrad. Once I graduated, I spent four years as a Public Middle School Choral Director. I quit teaching at the Middle School to have more time with my two boys and I taught part-time at another private school for two years and ran my own in-home Private Voice and Piano studio where I had over 22 private students. I returned to teaching full-time this past year and I am now the Director of Choral Programs at a local high school. All together I have over 11 years experience as a Music Educator.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am foremost a Choral Director. When I teach Music Theory/History, I encourage student participation and class discussions. This is something that I have loved at the high school level. Students are brimming with ideas and thoughts and I love to let them spill out and help guide them on the right paths to learning.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Under my direction, my Choral groups have earned straight Superior Ratings at three National Competitions. In 2006 my Choir received 1st Place and my Soprano Section received "Best Overall Section" in a National Competition.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor of Music Degree and K-12 Choral/General Teaching License from Meredith College.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

When I'm not teaching music or writing music, I am spending time with my husband and two little boys.
