TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am completing my 9th year of teaching English. I have taught at all levels of high school (9th-12th), but the majority of my classroom time has been with 10th and 11th grade students, on level, PreAP, and AP. In addition, I taught ESL to adults in Lima, Peru prior to teaching at the high school level. In between my years of teaching, I spent about a year working at and with an educational publishing company to develop ELA and ESL curriculum across all levels (K-12). In addition, I am currently the part time Technology Integration Specialist for our campus. My certification is ELA 8-12 and ESL 8-12. My M. Ed work focused on integrating technology in classrooms with diverse populations (gifted, twice exceptional, ELLs).

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use Socratic circles, PBLs, and metacognitive reflection in most of my units.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended the UTeach program at the University of Texas at Austin from 2002-2006 and graduated with a B.A. in English and Secondary Education. Later, I attended Southern Methodist University and received an M.Ed in Education with an emphasis on technology integration and G/T. My certifications are in 8-12 ELA, ESL, and I am certified as an AP Language and Comp teacher.
