TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm a full time explorer and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society living on the tiny British Channel Island of Alderney. Right now I'm preparing to undertake a 3000 mile ocean row around the coast of Britain as I retrace the Viking routes on my 'Great British Viking Quest'.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I'm not a teacher but I'm someone who struggled in school and didn't flourish until I was a mature student. I learn best through drawing my notes and experiencing the world in a real context. This is why I draw the things that I learn, and run virtual field trips for schools.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was previously named by Skype for International Women's Day as a 'Woman Changing the World through Technology' due to my passion for teaching young people through virtual learning environments. I'm the Founder of an environmental and STEM education charity called Oceans Project which provides free, online, environmental and STEM education to children around the world who have no access to a school. You can connect with me live for free, on Skype in the Classroom.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I failed maths and science at school, but went on to become a cognitive neuropsychologist, medic, and specialist in aviation, space, and diving medicine.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Follow my expedition: thegreatbritishvikingquest.com Proceeds from sales in my shop go towards my solo row around Britain, and views of my free educational videos raises funds to provide education to kids who live on rubbish dumps without access to a school.
