I have taught at many levels during my career but at the moment, I am a seventh grade social studies teacher. I have worked in elementary schools, taught math, ELA and social studies in middle school and world history and Civics and Economics at the high school level.
I have a student led/teacher facilitated learning environment as much as possible however, I believe that sometimes, old school methods work. Students must discover things own their own sometimes but they must be directly taught at others!
I am a 2004 recipient of the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship.
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with two degrees: one in Classical Studies and one in History. My focus was Latin for my classical studies degree and education for my history.
I am a mommy to two crazy little boys and a teacher 24/7 when you take into consideration that being a mother is a lot about education as well! I am married to an amazing man who works in IT. We live in the town I grew up in, right down the street from my parents.
