For the past 7 years I have taught at a small charter school. During these 7 years, I've taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades~ all in my first year! My main experience is in 3rd and 4th grade. Before finding my current "home", I taught in 2 large, suburban districts in Texas. I gained much experience working with at risk students and students with severe behavioral challenges. I have also had adventures as a Medical Coder, Administrative Assistant, Safety Officer, and Order Processor.
My style is constantly evolving based on my students' unique needs. Our classes are so small, so I truly am able to give one-on-one face time to my students. My classroom is always described as the organized chaos room. You may find a group working on a project at one end of the room, a couple of students huddled under their desks partner reading, and a student or two working on solo assignments or projects. I believe in authentic, student lead experiences, engaging activities, and fun with test prep;)
I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1998 with a B.S. in Elementary Education.
