I have been teaching for 17 years in Title I inner city schools. The inner city schools are located in New York, Baltimore, MD, and Georgia. The academic levels I taught were 6 - 12th grades. The subjects taught were math, science, social studies, and English. Of my 17 years teaching, 10 were within the Special Education class.
My teaching style is very hands on. My teaching style is also very active and visual. I enjoy the call and response type of teaching, therefore there is always buzzing in my class. Students are encouraged to collaborate with one another. Student concepts are often chunked especially when I teach mathematics. Student learning is developed through my use of technology such as computers and i-pads. Students learn through practice, experience, hands on activities, field trips, trial and error, intense collaboration in group work, by example, and real-life correlations.
