I design ASL products for the classroom and home. Lenticular (moving) posters and cards for learning basic signs are the most popular products. I also design ASL greeting cards, ASL posters, ASL fabric and ASL gift wrap paper.

This is a great poster for any pre-school or kindergarten class learning ASL. It is so cute to watch the children stand in front of the poster and lean left to right and learn some basic signs. Great for families learning ASL too.

This poster is a nice addition to the First Signs Poster. It works the same way. While looking at the poster - lean left to right to see the images move and learn some basic ASL signs. Perfect for pre-school classrooms and families learning ASL.

I loved designing this poster. Probably because I love animals and love watching kids make the signs for some of these very common zoo animals. This poster is also made with lenticular graphics - just like the First Signs poster and Early Signs

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I was the ASL Program Coordinator and a teacher at San Diego State University for over 10 years. I taught undergraduate students ASL 1,2 and 3 and taught graduate students advance courses in ASL. I taught PreK and Kindergarten in a Deaf and Hard of Hearing class in the San Diego area. Currently, I am interpreting for Deaf and Hard of Hearing faculty at the University of California, San Diego.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style has always been a mostly immersion setting. No voice from day one in an ASL class. So much fun. Always an active and moving class environment.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

A couple of mini scholarships for grad school and a Community Service award from the student governance board at SDSU.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BS degree in Marketing/Business Admin from Bloomsburg University, Pennsylvania and a MA degree in Deaf Education/Communicative Disorders from San Diego State University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My parents are Deaf. I am a CODA. My goal is to create ASL products which makes learning ASL fun and more accessible. I have a website, sayitinsign.com for the ASL products and spoonflower.com/profiles/marykane for the ASL fabrics and gift wrap paper. I really enjoy trying to find ways to embed ASL into products to give teachers and families more choices in how they can include ASL into their daily lives.
