Like so many, I began teaching fresh out of college. I packed up after graduation and moved to Manhattan where I had a job at an independent school. I was lucky to be the assistant to two career first grade teachers who taught me how to be a caring, dedicated, disciplined and reflective educator. After this, I worked in the ed-tech field for a few years until I realized that I missed the classroom and making a daily difference for kids. I went to graduate school and then got my first classroom! I now teach Kindergarten in the NEK of Vermont, in one of the best schools I have ever walked into.
I am a play based practitioner, who also happens to believe that Kindergarteners are capable of way more than we know, or ask of them. I believe one of my most important jobs is teaching kids to become responsible, engaged members of a learning community, helping them build a tool box of skills, strategies and knowledge that they will carry with them in the years to follow. I don't think that kids need cute baby animals and lots of gimics to engage them in their work, so the products you'll find here are not going to showcase that. The products I put up here are ones I have created to showcase the kids work, and to target a specific CCSS. In the end, I like to have fun with my kiddos and help create life long learners who come to school excited and eagerly anticipating what each day will bring!
