I have been teaching for 20 years and loving my job! Most of the time has been spent in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd. I have also taught a couple of years at the 3rd and 4th grade level. Almost all of my experience has included working with ELL (ESOL) students. It is in teaching non-English speaking students that I have learned the most about effective teaching strategies for all students. I will be teaching 1st grade this year, with the hope I can loop with my class to 2nd grade the following year.
Hands On, project based learning is my style! In addition I am a firm believer in teaching through games and songs! (This is in spite of the fact that I can't carry a tune.) I like to challenge students to problem solve on their own and help them arrive at solutions without giving them answers!

I LOVE to travel. I have lived on 3 continents outside of the USA and will travel at the drop of a hat. (Domestic travel is more of the norm for me now that I am married and have a family) I enjoy learning about other cultures and trying new languages. I am fluent in German. I enjoy reading and gardening when not going to soccer games, swimming pools or school activities.
