TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Over the years I have taught algebra 1, algebra 2, pre-algebra, geometry, consumer math, biology and general science, and have tutored all ages. I am certified in Massachusetts to teach math grades 1-12, biology and students with moderate disabilities. Teaching math-phobic students turned out to be my strength. Once a kid "gets" math, their whole world opens up!

MY TEACHING STYLE

My number one goal is to always teach math in a way that includes everyone and that gives students encouragement and confidence to take more years of math. To me, giving students confidence and desire to continue their math education is the most important thing I can do.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I'm a published author of a Chicken Soup for the Soul story called "The Eye Patch". It's in the Teens Talk Middle School book and was originally a story I wrote for a graduate class.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

As an undergrad, I graduated with a degree in Environmental Science from UMass Amherst. As a graduate student, I graduated with a degree in Mathematics for Teaching from Harvard Extension School. I am Massachusetts certified to teach math grades 1-12, biology grades 5-12 and students with mild to moderate disabilities.
