GCF and LCM Solve 'n Check! Middle School Math Tasks Activity

On each card, students find the greatest common factor and the lowest common multiple of 2 numbers. Next, they either add, subtract, multiply or divide their two answers (based on what their card says to do) to see if the result matches the check number in the lower right corner of the card. Chances are if the check number matches, GCF and LCM were found correctly! This activity is self-checking, giving students that instant feedback they love. The activity is easily differentiated. On cards 1-

Teaching style

I believe that all students can enjoy and be successful learning math. We are all math people! Sometimes some students may need a few extra supports, and I offer these through visual math word walls, hands-on math activities, task cards, scavenger hunts, reference sheets and a variety of assessment types, along with lots of encouragement.

My own education history

Bachelor's degree, Environmental Science, University of Massachusetts at Amherst Master's degree, Mathematics for Teaching, Harvard Extension School
