I have a dual certification in Special Education and Elementary Education. My special education training prepared me to teach adapted and extended curriculum for mild-moderate disabilities and severe-profound disabilities in grades K-12. My elementary education training prepared me to teach all subject areas to grades K-6. I spent my first few years teaching 6th grade as an inclusion teacher. This means I co-taught with other teachers in classrooms with a mix of students with IEP's and who were considered typical learners. I am currently teaching general education, specifically 5th grade. But I think all teachers will agree there's nothing general or typical about education and teaching. When learning, everyone is exceptional :)
