Welcome to our Schoolhouse Thought Store! We are Larry and Cindy Lopez Elwell. It’s a funny thing when you are a teacher, married to a teacher: you either spend your time together talking about work or work related issues or you work really hard to find other things to say to each other. We have a blog that is our attempt to focus our inevitable “work” discussions and create a place for them to live and play and grow. Our column "Quick Writes" is linked to this store and will have tips and items to download (sometimes free...sometimes, not) to help your work in the classroom reach new heights and to bring some novelty and rigor to your practice. Combined, we have over have over 50 years of experience as classroom teachers, mentors, coaches, administrators, teacher educations, and parents.
We believe in inquiry-based, student-centered, and constructivist pedagogy. Our classrooms have featured centers, readers' and writers' workshops, and Daily 5/Daily 3. We seek balance in our practice and professional development endeavors; working both with students and adult colleagues to meet their needs and to reach their goals.
