I have been teaching for 15 years. I have 5 years experience teaching English Language Arts and the other 10 years experience are in Science.
My teaching style is very hands-on and student centered. I tell my students that they learn science best by “doing” science. I work hard to make every concept real-life applicable and inquiry based. I use videos and online simulations when necessary to help my students visualize abstract concepts. I do use technology a lot. My school is a 1:1 school but there are some things that cannot be done on the computer. It’s better to get your hands dirty.
I have not received honors or awards for my teaching but I feel the best honors come from the notes my students write, my former students coming back and visiting me and telling me that they miss my teaching or how much I have impacted their love of science. Other shining teacher moments are when you have a student struggling so hard on a challenge concept and you spend some one-on-one time with them and teach it in many different ways and then they have their “ah ha” moment. I live for those moments.

I am a busy mom to a spunky 7 year old daughter who loves to dance. So, yes, I am a dance mom! I have a wonderful and talented husband who is a graphic designer and helps me with the designs of my products. In my spare time, I love crocheting and helping people with their fitness and nutrition goals.
