Teaching since 1992, I have taught multiple grade levels at the Elementary level, in public, private, and charter schools. I have taught classes entirely of ELL students and self-contained Advanced groups.
My style is more of a philosophy: "Give children the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence." Hold students accountable for their learning and progress, and the intrinsic rewards will motivate them. (A little help from a candy jar for 'going above and beyond' helps...)
Teacher of the Year nominee. Awarded several grants from local sponsors.
BS in Elementary Education. Grades 1-6 certified. Gifted and ESOL endorsements. Robert Marzano training.
While I love teaching, my second passion is making the time I have with my students more effective by developing worksheets, game ideas, and other materials that I have field-tested and tweaked when needed. When I am not in the classroom or behind the computer, you can find me sharing the sandy shore with my friend, the heron.
