I have been teaching elementary school for thirteen years. I taught third grade in New Jersey for a decade and am currently teaching 4th grade here in Florida. Furthermore, I have experience teaching second, as well as fifth grade. I have experience teaching data-driven lessons that are standards-based.
I strategically plan a variety of lessons for my students that are not only engaging, but also require movement. My lessons include interactive PowerPoint presentations that allow the students to engage with their teammates, share ideas/thinking, and require them to stand up to present their team's thought processes. My goal is to make learning an enjoyable process. After all, learning is a life-long endeavor and I hope to motivate my students to always strive to know more!
In 2013, I was presented with the district's Teacher of the Year award.
I have acquired an Associate's Degree in Education, a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, and teaching certificates in both NJ and FL.
Some interesting facts about me: I have an identical twin sister that also taught in the same district that I worked in while living in NJ. During my tenth year as a teacher there, we were given the opportunity to work together in the same school and that was a lot of fun! We moved to FL together in 2015 and are teaching in the same district, but on different grade levels. We organized and ran our school's first and second annual talent shows! I enjoy writing poetry and am currently working on self-publishing children's books with my twin sister. I enjoy creating PowerPoint presentations and poetry prompts, amongst many other things. I am a huge advocate of the Golden Rule. Two of my many passions include exercise and eating healthfully. I love to learn and am constantly working towards self-improvement. I am intrigued by people's travel stories, minimalism, and hearing about people that think outside the box to design their lives far from the norms of society's expectations. Last but certainly not least, I recently became the proud guardian (I prefer guardian over owner) of a beautiful horse!
