TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm in my EIGHTH year of teaching - Time FLIES when you're having FUN! After 7 years in 2nd Grade, I made the decision to step down into PreK. We are having a blast and I've found my love for teaching again after a rough, rough year! Pinterest: Lindsay Sedersten

MY TEACHING STYLE

In 2nd Grade, manipulatives and hands on learning is by far the most effective route for learning new concepts/ideas. We get up and move, we dance, take breaks and perhaps have a 2-3 minutes "rest" to calm now and then. But, it can't be all movement and activity either. I love to facilitate their learning and discovery but I also like to connect our concepts to their world - It makes fractions or reading strategies so much more meaningful when their little eyes can help make a mental connection of, "Oh! I've seen that before!" In PreK, I'm learning it's all about enthusiasm and play! We learn through play and discovery daily. We love to explore and interact. It amazes me how quickly these little minds soak in new information.
