TEACHING EXPERIENCE

It'll be my FIFTH year teaching 2nd grade (in the fall) in a metro suburb located in Northeastern Oklahoma. I have so much to learn but I as create documents helpful in my classroom, I hope to share those & help other teachers. MY TEACHING STYLE

In 2nd Grade, manipulatives and hands on learning is by far the most effective route for learning new concepts/ideas. We get up and move, we dance, take breaks and perhaps have a 2-3 minutes "rest" to calm now and then. But, it can't be all movement and activity either. I love to facilitate their learning and discovery but I also like to connect our concepts to their world - It makes fractions or reading strategies so much more meaningful when their little eyes can help make a mental connection of, "Oh! I've seen that before!"

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Rising Star Award from my previous school for the 2013-2014 School year, voted on by my peers.
